I have ready availability to some from a guy that sell chicks he gets from Ideal. I want to know if they are worth getting. Will they lay the dark eggs like they're supposed to?

Unfortunately no.
Quality of birds and egg color was disappointing......but not everyone got the raw deal tho!
For what you are looking for, best bet is to find some serious breeders...there's plenty of them here in BYC
