We have chicks, chickens, ducks, turkeys + goats. Ideas for keeping the chicks + other birds out of livestock waterers + water buckets because they drown.
Am looking for livestock waterer ideas that birds cannot drown + or/prefer ways to keep birds out of livestock water buckets.
I've seen the topic of chicks drowning in water buckets.
Those who have goats + chickens on your farm please respond. Thanks :)

I have only had problems with chicks getting into open water pans in the first 10 days of life when they seem drawn to water. I had one who I saw fall in, and I removed all open waterers for awhile. I would probably just keep any young chicks out of your livestock area for a couple of weeks.

I have no personal goat experience, but I have read advice to put a board in the water, slanted so it makes a ramp. Does not keep the chickens out, but helps them get back out if they do fall in.
