    Hi,
We ordered a batch of rainbow layers from McMurray hatchery, along with a fayumi rooster. Then they threw in another rare and unusual breed as a bonus offer at that point. I think the rare and unusual bonus bird is this rooster, but I have no idea what it is. Any ideas?

Easter Egger all the way. McMurray's "rare" breed is usually an EE cockerel. [IMG]

lol. What an amazing rare breed! So, I guess we can go ahead and safely eat him [IMG]? He looks like he's going to be nice and meaty.
ETA: Now that I google Easter Egger Rooster, I see a lot of pics that look just like him. I also see pics that look pretty similar to another of our roosters, which a friend identified as also being an easter egger (though he has different colorings). Easter Egger sounds like code for mutt chicken.

Yeah, that's like over 90% of their rare breed free chicks.

The pictures look like he's bearded and I have seen some pictures Easter Eggers with that coloring. He has slate legs, too, and in the bottom picture I think I see a pea comb, so definitely an EE.
