Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

Generally a big NO. Not only have they bonded to humans, but pen raised quail have lost the instinct to survive and have not been trained to find food or water from the parent birds. Predators will quickly pick them off one by one or they will starve or die of thirst. You will most likely be sending them off to their deaths. If you no longer want your quail, do the humane thing and slaughter them yourself in a quick fashion.

I agree if you set them free, you are signing their death certificate

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about quail (never had any), but TwoCrows is our resident quail expert so I would listen to her advice. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your quail.
