If I use sand inside the coop and outside in the covered run area, can I still use the poo in my compost? Do I just use some sort of litter picker-upper to pick it up and put it in my compost? If I get any sand in the compost will that ruin it??

I don't think sand will hurt it. For one thing, when you put it in your garden the sand will just mix with the dirt (and probably help it with drainage and such). Most people here seem to sift out the sand and just collect the poo and put that in their compost.

    No, sand actually improves drainage.

Sand is fine in the compost. I don't know where you are located, but if you have clay soil it will help with that.

Yeah, actually, we have alot of clay in our soil and we like to add sand to loosen it up.
