I'm preparing for the worst...
hide.gif

I got 3 blue araucana chicks today and they are about 1.5 weeks old

I know these pics aren't great, but they just got back and I don't want them to stress out too much. One has a little tail and more pronounced muffs than the other two and has darkish coloring. The other two are much lighter. Will they all feather out to be the same color at the end? They have dark colored skin except for the lightest one, and need I mention are Australian araucanas, not the rumpless American variety

Here are the pics (sorry for the quality!)

CHICK #1

This is the lightest colored one. You can't see if from here but she even has some yellow down.

CHICK #2

This little guy has some black on his head

Super cute!

CHICK #3

This one has the most feathers and the only one with a tail now. I am prepared to accept the other two are roosters because they don't have a tail yet, but there is still hope?

The temperature today was around 33degrees C (about 91 f) and in the past month went up to about 43 degrees c (106 f). At this rate I won't even need a heatlamp!

No ideas yet?

Lovely birds/colors! Too young to sex. Im in FL and were in the high 80's and Ive been moving babies out of the brooder room into the grow out pens at 4 weeks...only putting a light on at night. I guess hot climates have one advantage!

But can you tell if they are araucanas, ameraucanas or EEs? The breeder buys hatching eggs and hatches them, so I couldn't see the parents

Actually, they can be... an EE is a bird that has a blue egglaying ancestor, doesn't conform to the standard, or is clearly mixed. So it's possible.
