Good Evening.. I have never owned turkeys, but last Sunday I went to buy hens and came home with turkeys too. Long story short, I couldn't handle the living conditions of the birds and talked the woman into letting me take the turkeys. She said all 3 are about two years old, one was a Royal Palm, but she wasn't sure what the other two are.
When I got them home I noticed one was limping. His leg looks to be slightly swollen. Everything else looks ok. He also doesn't roost at night, he lays in the brooder, and he might be a little slow. He thinks he's a chicken. The other two strut around. All 3 are very friendly and seem to enjoy gobbling at my dogs..

You have two Mottled Blacks and one Royal Palm toms. It is breeding season and I very strongly recommend that you keep them away from your chickens. Since there are no turkey hens for them to breed, do not be surprised if they start trying to breed the chickens. It will not be good for the chickens if they try to breed them.

Check the one with the bad leg for bumblefoot.

Thank you.
I checked everyone's feet before I brought them home, but I will check them again. My husband and daughters said he was limping before we brought him home. I honestly didn't notice. My mind was only focused on getting these birds out of that place. Charles and Clint were roaming the yard and John Wayne was in a chicken coop with 100+ chickens. I also noticed some discoloration in his eyes, like cataracts. Do Turkeys get cataracts? Do you think I should take him to the vet?

When you check him, be sure to check his hip. Often a hip injury will cause lameness and a limp.

I imagine it is possible for turkeys to get cataracts but doubt that such would be the case for turkeys of their age. Are you sure that the nictitating membrane wasn't what you were seeing? I often am disappointed when photographing turkeys to have the nictitating membrane close just as I snap the photo giving the appearance of a clouded eye.

Judging from the length of their spurs my guess is that these are all 2 year old toms.

I will check his hips this morning. I've also noticed that he doesn't have feathers on his breast. I guess it would be called a breast. Do you think that is because he lays on the ground?

It may be because of all the laying down he does which is most likely due to his bad leg but it is not uncommon for tom turkeys to have a bare breast due to pacing back and forth along a fence and rubbing the feathers off.
