I got two chicks about.... 4-5 weeks ago I think. The barred rock I'm certain is a dude but I also got a Rhode Island Red. Thinking it would be good to have ones I can easily distinguish from each other. So now I wonder what's the RIRs gender. It and the barred rock, who I now call Xigbar, developed differently but I know different breeds probably develop differently.... I didn't think my idea all the way through when I got them. [IMG]
The combs look different to me so I want to hope the RIR is female but again I'm on the fence.

Even the wings look different to me.

Any ideas? If they are both roosters how long before they hate each other? I've grown attached to them! ):

I also got some chicks! 4 EE and 3 Golden comets. I guess this wasn't enough because they sent me 13 extra mystery chicks. Most of which I assume are barred rock males. But this one is smaller and weirdly colored.... What is it?

    Hello and :welcome

Well you might have a boy there by the looks of its comb, it's pretty big, but it doesn't have any color to it. Some cockerels tend to mature faster and Then others mature slower. Now from my experience ones that do that usually turn out to be boys. Now I'm not garrenteeing it's a boy, I'm just saying it could be. Also wings have nothing to do wings sex.

Oh and also a lot of people think that roosters will fight, but they really won't. I have 4 roosters and they all get along really well. Two of which were raised together.
    Hope this helps. :)

That makes me glad because I'm super attached to both of them now and can't get rid of them! (To a fate unknown) if it's a dude I'll name him Demyx XD but I'm still hopeful. They have similar legs that look thick to me so I was like nooooo babies! I have lots of chicks now to take care of but I'm sure I'll have to rehome 10 roosters or more now!

I'm thinking cockerel on your Rhode Island Red, since it has rather thick legs, is feathering slowly, and has a relatively large comb.

I figured! XD I bought them from a local guy and he was just like okay good luck. and yeah. It's okay if they are dudes, so long as they don't attack each other or me!

Oh, your chick looks like a Black Astralop. That can happen, as people get barred rocks and Astralops together all the time!
Very cute by the way ;)
