A friend of mine received this chicken as a gift. She said it has been crowing, so she assumes it's a rooster. I have some ideas, but can you help me ID the breed?

Obviously, my friend has gone bonkers by putting this bird on her white couch, but it makes for a stunning photograph, don't you think?

I would vote Appenzeller Spitzhauben with a funny comb.

They are pretty aren't they, especially little roos like him. Like the Brabanters also (could have voted that but no beard and they are usually more goldish). Some hatcheries have both them now, like them especially since they do have the cute crests but not really excessive ones like the polish sometimes do.

I agree. I think it's an appenzeller spitzhauben. No word back from my friend, but thanks! As far as I'm concerned, mystery solved!
