I'm depressed!!!! **edit to add pictures

Looking at all the great coops on here, I want one. Hubby works to muc to build one, and I have not a clue!!!!!
I need to have one built how much do you think people will charge. I already have a HUGE run with some roofing, but I want a coop.

this is what i have on property, and a picutre of my runs, they are 2 attached and they are quite large

hmmmm well, I do most anything, but build, I have a hard time hanging pictures....again might be easier just to hire

Perhaps you can find a building on CL and go from there. I've seen playhouses, sheds, even outhouses that people are giving away. Those would at least give you the bones to work with.

I'm one lucky gal 'cause my brother who is in construction volunteered to build me a super coop.

we have this old shed that we don't use but to hold junk, but how about connecting it to the run, how would I do that?
I will post pics, maybe I could get some advice?
I can not drive, due to epilepsy, so I can't get supplies, I don't even have a saw.

I would search craigslist, sometimes they have lots of neat things that could be used for a coop. I use the metal sheds and butt them up against the run. The metal is pretty easy to cut and opening into. They have the cheap ones for like $198.00. I found 2 on craigslist for $190.00 for both. Both of my coops are metal sheds. I have 4 total, but do not have the other two up yet.

I think a shed and a run sounds like a great start! Just because some folks have attractive and specially built chicken coops doesn't mean that they won't be happy in something more humble. Our nesting boxes are actually plastic tubs from the dollar store and our chickens love them. My husband did build a little shelf for them to sit in steady though. But you can get creative with what you have on hand.

Nesting boxes , food and watering devices, roosting stuff, almost anything for chickens and poultry can be ordered online.

We find ourselves running to the store quite a bit for things for the chickens however, you will need to have a plan for how to get their ongoing supplies as their feed is heavy and you wouldn't want to pay shipping for that. Before we had them we pictured we would be buying chicken feed and that was it, but in reality, we buy sunflower seeds, scratch, oyster shell, grit, flock blocks and flax seed as well, and they take up quite a bit of space and should be fresh. So at least once a month you will need to make a trip to a feed store. Feed stores also have most of the supplies you need for chickens so you might not have to pay for shipping for much of your supplies for your coop. Our feed store had ready made coops but they were a fortune. That would make fresh eggs pretty expensive! But they are fun to check out and get ideas from. I agree, if you look at some of the coops on here, you get coop envy.

You don't always have to start driving a Rolls Royce and you don't have to have a fancy coop to get started with chickens.

thanks!!! I have had chickens for 2 years, but with just a run, coons have been terrozing! How would i move the shed and attach to the run?
I have friends that pick me up once and awhile to go to the feed store, and groceries.

OMG I would give my eye teeth for a nice big pretty run like that! Have you thought about just using old wooden dog houses for coops? That has worked for us for over a year now, We are now gutting and redoing a small camper to use as our coop, and would just LOVE that run to attach to it lol
