i have some new hamshire red hens and 2 new hamshire red roosters i wanted to know when the hens would start to lay and when the roosters will start to fertilize the hens

The roos will start trying long beofre the hens have eggs t fertilize. Think of teen age boys with dirty magazines. The hens generally start laying around 20 wks of age, sometimes as early as 16. It takes them a while to get it right so the first few weeks or month you get some weird eggs at odd intervals then they settle down to a regular laying pattern.
