We are new to chickens- Just got them on March 20, 2017! We have 6, five week old chicks. I hope we have: 2 marans, an ameraucana, a silver-lace wyandotte, an olive egger, and a welsummer. We love camping - hence my investment in an automatic chicken door :) My husband and I have a 6 yr old daughter that loves animals - we have a 21 yr old desert tortoise, a cat that loves hunting but is afraid of the chicks lol, and some fish.

Greetings from Kansas, lilredracr, and [IMG]! Great to have you aboard! In my opinion - yes, they can handle being in the coop - heat free - in the climate you described, as long as the coop is sound and there isn't a draft. Looks like they have cozy bedding so my opinion is it would be just fine.
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC! [IMG]

G’Day from down under lilredracr [IMG] Welcome!

Sorry, living in a warm climate and only raising chicks under a broody hen, I am not experienced at when it is OK to move chicks from brooder to coop.

However, I did just want to say that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]

Hi and welcome to BYC. I agree with redsoxs - I'm sure the little rascals will do just fine in the coop.

    Best wishes
