My Peking Ducks have just started to lay. All ten are 7 months old, immature, busy, and noisy day and night trying to make fertile eggs. The females only lay at night in a common nest which is a muddy. I have just started to find 4 really dirty eggs every morning in a single muddy nest which is covered with straw. There is an abundance of clean nesting material available in many quiet spots in a large safe fenced area. Does this sound par for the course for young ducks? From my observations the males don't seem to be successfully coupling. Do I test the eggs the same way I would a chicken egg for fertility? Thanks in advance for any and all words of wisdom.
