im starting this project in the spring
wish me luck
Too bad you don't live closer... I would send you my crele half Orpington Rooster. Not sure what I am going to do with him! LOLOL The other half is Wyandotte....
that stinks well if ya get close to mn id love to have him
What do you start with to get crele? I've been wondering about this....
oh man that will be sooo cool! I don't have any orps, but they creep into my thoughts. and I love the color crele. I've already got enough breeding projects...for now hehe.
Go for it!
I would also like to know what you are going to use for the cross?
The crele variety is built upon the wild type gene with the addition of the barring gene. If a person is going to make crele in orpingtons they would have to introduce the wild tpe gene from welsummer ( the only wild type large fowl I can think of at this time) and the barring gene from a cuckoo maran. That is if the breeder can not find a barred orpington.
That sounds like an ambitious endeavor. Are you an experienced breeder ?
Alternatively a white legged large Crele OEG.
What variety of Orpington are you intending to use as your base bird?
buff? i think
How is your crele orp project coming along. I saw your post from 2009 but nothing more. Did you succeed?
