Ok - so newbie Chicken Mom. 3 week old babies. When (if ever) do we consider them out of the woods???? Every week that goes by I worry a little less but then I read about something else that could happen! [IMG] Oy. Other than predation and stuff like that - is there a certain age that if the chicks make it that far things are looking pretty solid? I lost one at 3 days old but at three weeks the rest are looking happy, healthy, and active.

Generally after 8 weeks of age they are out of the woods for coccidiosis (but it can still occur if immunocompromised or exposed to new soil). That is the age I start to count them as part of the flock and can relax a bit.

Three weeks old is the latest I have lost them for "no reason"...individual chicks.
