Im thinking about getting Silkies(for the first time) and need some info

I'm looking around, and I saw silkies, I have seen a lot of silkies before and now I am thinking about getting some. There is only one problem, I don't know anything about them. I have had chickens before but I don't know what silkies are like. I decided to try and get some because I was told that they are broody and can be pets. That's pretty much all I heard. These are both things I want, a great pet chicken and a broody mom chicken to have a family. So if there is anyone who has experience with them and really knows them, please tell me some things about these fluffy birds.

They make great broodies. Everyone should have a Silkie or five. Especially if you have kids.

Is it very common for them to be broody?

Would they brood other eggs beside their own?

Ours went broody a couple times a year and would hatch whatever was under them.
