So i apologize if this question belongs in a different area. I'm new to the site.

My chicks are all about 4 weeks old. I just noticed today when I got home that one of my hamburgs is being really lazy. Normally they are the two most energetic ones. They are all out in their playpen enjoying the nice weather but she just wants to lay down. She'll get up and move a few steps if another chickie tries to step on her but she just wants to lay down. She'll peck around at the ground around her but doesn't really move otherwise. Also, when she does move, or rather is made to, i noticed he tail doesn't stand up. Is she sick?? Maybe tired? I'm worried about her.

Did she or does she perhaps have splay leg? It's all I can think of besides sickness..

No splay leg. She's never had it.

Could be coccidosis. Symptoms include lethergic behavior, excessive sleepiness, puffed up appearance, may or may NOT have blood in stool. May have foamy stool. Treatment is Amprolium. Brand name Corid. The whole flock gets treated with Amprolium. Cause of illness is a cocci load that the body is not yet immune too. Cocci is in all soil and feces. Start treatment immediately if coccidosis is suspected. If not treated it will or can kill. Hope this helps. GOD BLESS.

I made a post about 2 weeks ago when I noticed one of my (then week old) chicks was very lazy. She would eat and drink, but mostly just lay down. If another chick would bug her, she would just get up and move. She's my favorite and I was sure I was going to lose her, but she's 3 weeks old now and growing and feathering out just fine. She's less lazy than before, but she's still the slowest moving of the bunch. She's a Blue Splash Marans, for what it's worth.

My birds were vaccinated for Marek's at the hatchery and I feed them medicated starter. Have yours been vaccinated? If you have Nutri Drench or something similar I would suggest trying to get some of that into her for a nutrient boost.

    Good luck!

They are on medicated feed. No shots. She sounds kust like how you described your chick. She's eating and drinking but constantly laying down. This has been going on since friday. She hasn't seemed to get better or worse.
