    Hi guys

I noticed a huge bulge on my girl.. Her crop has gone hugeee.. It was soo hard I fed her some olive oil mixed with water... She's constantly eating.. However, can she get an impacted crop from seeds stones and a lot of sunflower seeds?!!

I thought hens could only have an impacted crop from hay and straw? :( really worried now :(((

    Thanks guys

Massage her crop downward several times a day. Don't give her anything to eat except plenty of water today, and keep massaging. I've heard of people giving a colace capsule for impacted crop, but don't know if it helps. Tomorrow feed only mushy foods like applesauce, soft eggs, and a little yogurt. Third day, feed wet chicken feed. Keep massaging, and don't give grains until the blockage has passed. Always check crops first thing in the morning when they should be empty. A vet may be able to remove a bad impaction with crop surgery. Here is a link to read: http://www.tillysnest.com/2012/01/crop-issues.html

Thank you! But can it happen even if she hasn't had strings of grass/straw etc?
