My sweet hen, Petralina, went missing last night and this morning I come across a few of her feathers that were scattered. When I saw the feathers I knew what had happened. Petralina was one of the most successful mother hens I ever had. She has gone broody many times, hatched five chicks in the past (including my main rooster), and has adopted three different clutches of chicks. She would have probably tried to adopt a baby elephant because she adopted a lot babies. She was a mix between a Buff Orpington Rooster and a Black Australorp Hen. Her daddy was gone unexpectedly and her mother remains with the flock as the lead hen who will turn 7 years old this coming April. Here are some of the best pictures of her. Petralina was one of the greatests and she will be missed!
