Hello! My name is Troy and I have a small backyard flock of chickens. My wife, Tara, and I started raising chickens in the spring of 2014 and it's been awesome! We currently have two bantam cochins (black and chocolate) and splash polish.

I started an account because I'm looking for Giant Silkies. From what I can tell, this breed does not exist or if they do, no one near a computer is selling them.

    • So, if anyone in the U.S. has giant silkies for sale, please message me.
    • Or, if anyone in the U.S. would be willing to breed giant silkies for sale, please message me.
    • Or, if anyone in the U.S. has large standard silkies for sale, please message me.

If there are any U.S. breeders interested in developing a giant silkie line, I would also be interested in possible business partnership, so please message me if this interests you.

Thanks for reading and I hope to hear back from someone...

Welcome to BYC! Despite what many "chicken experts" say, there is a such thing as a large Silkie. However, I read they are common in Australia, like bantam Silkies are in the U.S. (and probably the U.K. too). I'm not sure where you could get any though. Have a great day!

Thanks for your thoughts on the Australian silkie breeds! I'm checking out the USDA live poultry import procedures but I'd prefer to stay in country if possible.

Hope you're having a great day too and thanks again!

I wouldn't be interested in a large silkie because their small size is a LARGE PART of their charm. If they get mixed with large breeds to up the size, I'm afraid their demure nature and broodiness would be lost.
