    Hi,

My wife and I are excited to get chickens in the spring. I have been reading up here to try to learn as much as I can. I took out our pool and am using the wood from the deck to build a coop. Here it is so far.

Welcome to BYC, Ray and Karen. Glad you decided to join our flock. Your coop looks great. I'd love to see a pic of it when it is finished and has chickens in it.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Thank you ALL for the kind words and guidance!!

Hmmm, we are still thinking about what breed to get. Karen wants brown eggs for sure because she said they taste better. I haven't done a taste test yet to verify that. Me personally, I do like to see a variety of sizes and colors of eggs but I realize we need to consider more than that in our selection of what types to get. I just have to figure out what factors are most important to the health of the flock. Right now I have no idea.

    Thanks again!!

    Ray & Karen.
