Inbreeding ?!?

    :rolleyes:ok, silly question , maybe ....... If I have 1 Roo in a flock , and he fathers a batch of chicks, can I put the new hens back in the pen with Daddy or will that be inbreeding ?!?! [​IMG]

    Chickens aren't like mammals.

    You can inbreed something like 25 times before they start to have problems. I am not sure what the exact number is, but it is pretty large.

    I was wondering the same thing. We had Cockatiels growing up and they inbred to the point that some babies would randomly die (they were a couple months old) and I had one who would constantly scream. [​IMG] I wasn't sure if chicken genetics were that close...especially since some of ours are all from the same hatchery! [​IMG]
