I moved my chicks out to the larger brooder in the shed. Last night was their second night. They went from a 100 qt. Plastic tube to a 4' x 3' brooder which is 2 feet tall.

I swear they went through a LOT more food in the last 2 days.

Anyone else notice a change in appetite, or consumption like this?

Or could they just be wasting it and I didn't notice?

for the record I feed them out of a TSC chick feeder, the kind for a mason jar, and I only filled it about 1/3 of the way.

Yes I noticed the same thing. However, keep in mind they are getting bigger. I started out with a 20 lb bag of starter from the feed mill, and just bought a 50 lb bag last Thursday and it is half gone. These guys really know how to chow down. I do have 17, 5 week olds though. How many do you have?

I have 9 3 week old RIRs.
We are still on our first 20 lb bag of Chick starter.
I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to get another bag soon.
