I have been reading a lot and finally decided to post. i have a small back yard flock of hens 13 total, so far all has been going well.
then i caught the serama bug!
i bought some eggs from a well known breeder online. was an auction for 18 eggs, i received 31, they went in the incubator on 11/19/2015
out of the 31 6 have made it to today, they went in to lockdown on day 16, we are now at day 20.
am concerned if they are ok, what should i do? am tempted to candle to see if they are alive, but realize i need to have some patience. when should i check?
    thanks

My serama hatch in 19 days, but hatching time can vary quite a bit with serama. I'd wait until day 22. Other people may have a different opinion. Lots of people have good luck with incubators; I don't. My serama hatch much better under broody hens.

That's great! I hope you get many more. My first serama eggs were shipped last April. Of the 20 eggs-11 hatched.

I candled my 14 serama eggs-9 are alive and growing. But, somehow, it's always disappointing to find eggs that have died in the early stage of development.

But I'm pleased-3 of the good eggs are from my avatar hen who I thought might be sterile-yeah!

    Good luck!
