So I am on incubation day 21 and day 15 with my Rouen x Blue Swedish duck eggs. I tried to candle my day 21 egg yesterday (holding it up to a bright light) and had a hard time seeing what is going on.
The egg appears to have:
-visible veining (much harder to see now than before)
-an air pocket at the top of the egg looks fine(compared to the "standard"
-something seems to be in there even though the egg seems to be only "half full" still fairly liquidy..seems like there is something solid in there though
-it is not smelly
-I cant hear any sounds or see and vibrations
-I couldn't see any movement when candling

The day 15 egg when held up to the light I could see the little duck moving inside, in terms of development it is on par with the older one when it was the same age.

So my Q is does this sound okay? Is there anything I should or shouldn't be seeing? I will admit that my homemade incubator does have a bit of fluctuating temps (as in drop a bit overnight) so would that possibly slow things down a bit? I do hand turn them throughout the day and make sure they are happy but there is not much else I can do.

Any tips or advice? I have done quite a bit of e-search but can't seem to see much info on this situation.

Thanks

Thanks. Yes the veining is similar but I can't see movement really..but then again I am holding it up to a light (not a bright concentrated light like you have). I guess I will wait and see what happens right! I just want to hatch them so I can have some little ducklings for me and my kids to love!

You can try holding the light from the bottom and then hold the light on the top. Sometimes if you shine the light through the air sac you can see better. Don't hold the egg upside down though, just move the light.

That helped me for some I wasn't sure on.
