geWell I was thinking about buying an incubator, but change in plans. My friend from church is overrun with eggs. And her rooster has been busy (if you know what I mean)
So DH and I started brainstorming and we grabbed an old portable heater, ripped the guts out. Stole the thermostat with the control switch. Got a light bulb. and thermometer/hydrometer. and away we go.

I tested it for about 6 hours and temps ,humidity seem stable. So we tossed in 6 eggs.
I didn't have time to work on the turner. But I did figure out how to get water in there without opening the bator.

My son is G-tube fed. I grabbed one of his feeding extensions. Ran it threw a small hole into the bowl. I fill it on the outside with a syringe.

I know it's not glamorous. But we will see how it goes.

Nice idea. I would ask about ventilation as well. I know someone on the other BYC tried this a few years back and it failed due to lack of ventilation. Trial and error are the best ways to invent and make it work. Good luck with your hatch.
