I'm thinking of getting some runner ducks for my yard for eggs and as an ornament and was wondering if their meat is any good. Please don't give me the "runner ducks aren't a meat breed" or "ducks are pets" type of answer. Thanks!

Cayugas are awesome for eggs. I've never eaten Cayuga meat. But there is a farm in NY called Arcadian Pastures that pasture raises all sorts of heritage breeds

I'm going to order some cayuga meat from them when they have it available.

PS- my hens are for pets/laughs and eggs only.

I doubt they'd taste any different than other ducks. But, yeah, they're incredibly small and not good for meat. But hey, if you wanna eat your extras, they're not gonna poison you.
Yeah - Runners are fantastic layers, but they're only about 4lbs, and they're a very long, lanky 4lbs. The legs might have some meat on them, but there's going to be almost no breast meat. Probably similar to eating bantams.
