Indian Runner unable to Scratch and Clean Eye

One of our Indian Runners came to us struggling to walk. After a trip to the vet it was concluded she has a deformity from birth. She gets about great but can't scratch the one side of her face and it is getting slightly messy under her eye and wet. We try and clean it but it just won't come clean. She has access to a deep pond but she just can't give it a good old clean and scratch.
Any ideas how we can get it cleaned up?

Try saline like for people who wear contacts. Or look on line for a recipe. Another good thing to have on hand is Terramycin eye ointment. Love to see your Runner they are special ducks.

They are special alright…
We have had good luck with just a warm compress gently wiping. Give it a try if she will tolerate it.
