I live just inside the outer ring. There's not much to do. We were quarantined, they came and tested and mine were negative. (first notified, tested and results all in less than 6 days. They will test again in two weeks. If they were sick, they would have been dispatched immediately.

    icychick,

Aww. Sorry your flock was quarantined and tested, but glad the results were negative.

The article stated that a "total of 46 backyard flocks have been found, and sampling is in progress." d.a.m.n. scary!

How was "testing" your flock conducted? Was a live chicken taken as a "specimen" to be euthanized so a necropsy could be performed?

My chickens are my pets, which is why I am concerned about the AI outbreak.

I do not want some biohazard scientist in a rubber space suit, wearing a hooded mask, and elbow-length safety gloves, breathing through a filtered oxygen tank confiscating my girls in the name of "research testing." [IMG]
