indoors or out

I see some of you have your food and water in the coop and some have it outside. What is the motivation for whether or not you put it in or out?

I keep my feed inside, so as not to invite mice and rats, from it being on the ground.
I keep my water outside to keep everything dry in the coop, in case of a spill or mishap.
