Hello all. New to the forum and chickens. We just inherited some backyard chickens and don't know much.I know I cant keep a rooster in my neighborhood and would prefer to only keep 2 of the 6 chickens (hens only). Can anyone help me decide which breed and gender the 6 chickens are. Really appreciate the help, our kids love them!

    1, 2, 3 are cockerels. 4, 5, 6 are pullets.

Wow thanks again! I'll start doing my research. We're excited to have them around.

I just want to say I'd keep all three pullets as chickens are very social and you don't want to keep two, have one die for some reason and be stuck with one very lonely chicken.

Good call. My wife suggested the same thing. I think we'll keep all 3. Thanks again for all the info folks. This forum is amazing!

I agree with Sourlands evaluation of your birds and also have to say that little white cockerel is a living doll. Maybe he won't crow loudly.
