I just read in a chicken magazine that: "some chickens inherit the tendency to lay double-yolked eggs".
Would that be a specific breed, or just a particular chicken? And what happens to a double-yolk egg if it's fertile and incubated? Will the egg develop? Will it not be viable, or will "twins" happen? If it develops, how could twin chicks inhabit one egg?
I'd think the eggs would be valuable in cooking if you're after egg yolks for things like custards or so on.
Thoughts?

Some chickens can lay quite a few double yoked eggs but it's not something you would see normally. It's not a gene that they can inherit. Yes, if a double yolk egg is fertilized 2 chicks will begin to grow, but because of the lack of space, and bad conditions the chicks will usually not live.
