One of my family's adult buff orps must have gotten into a scuffle with some kind of creature in the night because it has a large red injury on its neck. There are no feathers around the area and it is pretty raw, red, and nasty. She acts normally but we are worried because of how gross the injury looks. Any advice? Thank you!

    Any photos?

Flush/clean the wound with saline or betadine, apply some plain neosporin or vetericyn. Watch for others picking/pecking at her wound, if so, you may need to separate her until she heals up a bit.
Keep an eye out for infection such as pus, odors, etc.

Thanks, I'll try to get a photo for you soon. None of my other chickens were really bothering it that much because she tried to stay hidden away from the others. She was in the chicken coop most of the day. She wasn't really running at mach 5 to get to a salad I put out for them like she usually is, either.
