My daughter just picked up 4 adorable silkie chicks from our local feed store. One of them has really bad pasty butt and the other has a tiny spot on its back and the others are picking at it and making it worse. I have blue kote..Can I put a small dab on her back? And is there anything I can do to make the others pasty butt any better? I'm dabbing aquaphor it around it to soften it and keep her vent open. Any advice would sure be appreciated!

Yes on the BluKote. For pasty butt, it's best just to gently wash the vents with a little soap and water between your fingers, and dry them with a tissue. It normally goes away after 7-10 days. Make sure your brooder temperature is not too hot to cause dehydration with a cooler spot to escape to. Using a red brooder lamp can help stop pecking, and let's them sleep better.
