Hi you all have been so helpful telling me how to take care of my wounded chick. She's six weeks and has a wound on her neck that we presumed from pecking each other. We got Blu-Kote today to put on the wound to heal and stop picking. This evening I went out to check and it was red again so I put the evening dosage on. Let it dry and put her back in the coop... She then used her beak and feet to scratch off the Blu-Kote and I'm a scared she got it in her mouth too. Now she's scratching the wound with her feet making it even worse. I'm so worried for her. Has anyone seen this happen before, what can I do to help her?? Do you think she could have caused this wound herself all along?

Thank you for your help!

Angies idea ought to work. Doubt she hurt herself but might look closely for mites or some other parasite. Had one of mine get all the feathers on the back of her neck plucked out by another. She learned to stay on top of the coop when she's not eating or drinking unless they are out free ranging. Sweet girl is just too submissive to the others.
