injured chicken

One of our chickens right foot, center talon seems to be sprained or broken. She won't put any pressure on it and keeps it curled and tucked under her. She hops around to get from place to place and feed. Any advice on how to fix it and has this happened to anyone before? Not sure how it happened unless she got it caught coming out of the coop. : (

Some of my chickens have had similar injuries. Let's see if I can figure something out...

You should try to keep her from curling her toe so she doesn't make it worse. Don't let her move around too much. In fact, if you can, keep her in a comfy cage or box. Tie a popsicle stick or something to her toe and bandage it (not too tight or the toe will suffocate!) and, once again, don't let her move around much. She could hurt herself even more.
