We have 11 ducks currently, well 13 but 2 of those are still in the house, waiting to be introduced to the others; they’re 7 weeks old and half Pekin, half Cayuga. My husband went to put them in their bathtub this morning and Loco (the male) fell out of my husband’s arms onto the floor. Later, I noticed he was holding his left leg up and appeared to be limping. I took him out of their box to show my husband, which is when he told me about Loco falling. He’s not able to use the leg, doesn’t apply pressure to it, nor does he use it when swimming. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to handle anything my ducks have incurred, whether a leg sprain, bumble foot, etc., thanks to you guys but this seems more serious. My husband said he could feel a loose piece of bone near the hip area. Should we try and make a sling for him. It’s just him and his sister, Luna, together in a huge double storage bin. These were my last two babies we planned to hatch. Any and all advice appreciated.
