My pet rooster was attacked by the neighbors dog. All of the rooster's tail feathers were torn out and i think he was bitten in the area. I was totally unaware of the attack as I wasn't home at the time and I didn't see the injury until the following morning. My rooster is just nested down in his straw with his head in the corner of his coop. Apparently, after the attack he was able to make it back home. What can i do for him? Will he make it on his own or will the inevitable happen? Any advice?

Post pics so we can see the severity. He needs isolated in a warm area. Check to make sure he's not punctured anywhere. I would at least make sure the wound is clean and apply vetricyn or a cream like neosporin.

Thank you for the advice, however he passed away today. I guess he was a lot worse off than I realized. I tried to find a vet to treat him but was unable to. I should have tried to do something at home for him but I have absolutely zero knowledge or experience about such things. My wife and I will miss him terribly!

Awe. Sorry to hear that. Chickens hide their illness and pain so it's understandable that he was worse off than you thought. :hugs I would be on the look out for predators though because it most likely will come back.
