One of my hens and my rooster have been fighting for the past couple days. A few hours ago i went to lock them in and my rooster's comb was covered in blood. We have seperated him from the rest of the flock, but what do we do about the wound?

It's not fairly deep. It's seems to have stopped bleeding but it won't scab up. Basically, he has a blob of red jelly on his forehead.

He's been part of the flock for over a year now, and there have never been problems with his agression before (towards other chickens, anyway)

Ugh! I would atleast try to get some neosporin on him (no pain reliever type). My thought is it will stop bleeding and heal up fine. You should isolate him until he is better. Shouldn't be too long, they seem to heal fast. Good luck with figuring out the problem between the hen and roo. Keep us posted!
