Hello, I am in need of purchasing a bantam chicken for my daughter. Any suggestions of what kind of chicken and it will be in high altitude and will be in cold winter, it snows here.

[IMG] chickens are flock animals and do much better with a buddy or two. Is there a possibility that you would get more than one?

X2. Chickens are social, flock animals. I wouldn't suggest a lone chicken.

On your question I suggest bantam cochins. Very sweet birds, cold hardy.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan [IMG]

Google the Henderson Chicken Chart for breed information. I agree that birds do better when kept with others.
