I had a total of seven chickens that were bought and put into quarantine. The quarantine time was over and I added them to my run of eleven chickens. The run was not overcrowded. I put them in a dusk and all seemed well. This morning all seemed well. However, later on in the morning, a chicken had been killed.

They had plenty of food and water. The new chickens have now been separated.

    Any thoughts?

Bummer. Sounds like a couple of bruisers couldn't decide on the pecking order.

How awful for you, so sorry [IMG] I had a new girl take on my top hen, they went at it brutally, like two cockerels, even after seeing each other through a pen during the quarantine period.

I can see how your unfortunate circumstance could've come about. [IMG]

The chicken was rather docile and flighty and never seemed to challenge any of the other chickens, which is why we were surprised.
