Today I brought my almost 1 week old silkie baby to meet my 5 week old chicks (and one 8 wk old silkie). I had the big chicks in the run at first, and let the baby walk on the outside. After a while I stood in there with them and brought baby in too. They didn't seem to care. Then I stepped out...and still nothing. They noticed her, but didn't do anything. Is this what they'd normally do, and then when you're not looking go in for the peckathon? I wasn't sure what to expect. Here's a pic:
In the picture they are eating food I threw down, but they were paying her no mind to her even before I put the food down. So, if I do this every day do you think by 3 weeks she'll be able to be locked in with them? And if yes, would I absolutely need a heat lamp on at night if they are all snuggled up together?
