I have a lone plymouth barred rock and have 21, 8 week old chicks. When should I put the chicks in with him? He is not nice to us and I need to cull him but just haven't yet. Will he hurt the chicks. They have been in a pen in sight of each other for 2 weeks now. What are your opinions?

I've done this and it worked out good. Here is a pic of what happened a few mins after I put them together. It was love at first sight, they would jump on his back it was so cute. My rooster was happy to have something to watch over. He was a good daddy, they are all grown up and several are still cooped with him he watches over them all. [IMG]
