Introducing chicks to broody hen

I was wondering if anyone tried to put chicks 4-5 days old under broody hen other than day'olds? Have a broody and haven't made it to the feed store, they are 4 days old today...the next shipment comes in next week, not sure if she'll still be broody then, she's been sitting about 2 weeks already.

I've never done it before, but from what I've read, it's all about timing. Apparently some hens just won't accept any chicks until at least three weeks have passed in their broody cycle (which makes sense, when you think about it. They know they aren't suppose to have hatched chickens until 21 days have gone by).

Hopefully someone else will come along who has done this before to give you more advice. Good luck!
