Introducing new chicks to young hens

I have 8 hens, 16 weeks and 4 hens and a rooster who are 1 week. Should I try to introduce the young ones around 8 weeks? I have read 8 and 16 weeks. Since my oldest hens are still young I thought there might be a difference. Anything I should do different with the roo?
