Somewhere recently I read that someone ( I think Speckled Hen) put a tablespoon of ACV per quart in her chick water. I extrapolated from there and put 4 tablespoons in the gallon watered but now I am reading all the recommendations to put just a tablespoon per gallon. Am I putting too much? The chicks don't seem to mind the taste.

I use 1 tbsp for stressed or sick chicks and 1 tsp for healthy probiotics.

So, maybe I am giving them too much. Will it hurt them?

Anyone else have any ideas about this?

Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing over time. But as far as I know it can't hurt. We humans eat enough vinegar andpickled things to pickle ourselves. LOL

If they don't drink the water because of the "taste" then yes it's bad, but otherwise I'd just correct it!

just like in humans vitamin d helps the body to adsorb calcium. Just learned that on tv last week. Also learned that very few foods have vitamin d in them. Thats why they add it to a lot of our foods. Sunshine is supposed to be the best source of vit. D. Hope that answers your question. PS. If Miss Prissy says so it is so. LOL Seriously she will give you the best solid info that you can find.
