I would like to plant some azalea bushes in my yard. In order to do so I need to put some special fertilzer in the soil to make it acidic. ITs a powder you mix into the soil when you plant. Is this ok for chickens to peck in? its says to keep away from kids/pets. I suppose you could put the fertilizer down in the hole and not on top where they scratch around. ANybody done this?? [IMG]

Where do you live, azaleas grow like weeds in the acidic soil here, also chicken compost is acidic also there are certain types of leaves that are too- w/o using chemicals...

(also azaleas are listed as toxic to eat... cats/animals)

    HI FireTigeris
I live in the Bay Area- the soil is not acidic in my yard. I* have azaleas there and they havent bloomed or grown in a year ! LOL I would like to have the flowers however I dont want to risk making the soil dangerous.

    Thanks
