Hello I have 1 chick who needed assistance with hatching since he was too large for the egg. The chick seems normal except for the fact he wobbles and falls over when walking he was born on Tuesday and I think he should be walking better. Is there a condition that chicks are born with that causes them to wobble and fall, or is it too early for him to be steady? If this is a condition has anyone ever been able to raise a chick like this and have it overcome or adapt to this disability? Also he is the only chick I have should I get him another chick to be with so he can watch it walk and eat?

I am by no means an expert...in fact I just hatched my first set of chicks ever. However, I did have one baby that needed quite as bit of help getting out and he had the same problem as you are describing.

For the first two or three days he was very wobbly and seems to sway a little. He also lost his balance and ended up on his back several times and started cheeping loudly. We would run over and gently set him back up on his feet. He looked almost like a turtle rolled over onto it's back

Anyway, that chick is 1 1/2 weeks old now and walks just fine.

I think it's just a matter of them gaining strength and getting used to walking after being so squished in that egg.

Any experts have an idea?
