    Hi

I have an emu egg and its 38 days old. It has not been making any noises or moving but when I tap on the egg, it sounds like a tink tink. It sounds like if the egg was hollow inside. Sounds similar to tapping on glass but a higher pitch sound. The egg used to smell like rotten eggs but I changed the water for the humidity and I mixed it with hydrogen peroxide and it doesn't smell anymore. I also did the cool down test and I let it get to room temperature but only one side feels a tiny bit warmer, almost nothing. Should I wait longer to test it again? When should I make a safety hole to allow oxygen to enter the egg? What does it mean if the egg is in this condition?

    Thank You!

Usually around 50 days. It mostly depends on the temperature that the eggs are being incubated at and the humidity. But 50 days is average.

Safety holes are for the hatch time only i think if you do it before then a safety hole will kill it. Emu eggs are so dark, I think you should weight weekly it to see if it changes weight.
