Is he a mutt Silkie??

Hello everyone,
I got silkies from a backyard breeder. All of them have grown up and the ladies are now laying. One though is a rooster, and his wattles and face and comb are purplish pink. He is also less "fluffy" than my other Silkie rooster. Is it possible that he is not a pure Silkie? The woman that I got them from used to have other breeds, but got rid of them all and now just has Silkies.

I would say he is full silkie just poor quality like what you would get from a hatchery.

He is probably purebred just pet quality.

He looks pure bred to me. Just pet qaulity as other have said.. Nothing wrong with that at all.

He looks just like one I bought from a hatchery -true silkie IMO- looks like a sweet boy. Hopefully he'll take good care of your girls.

If you want the huge crests and show quality look, try hatching eggs from a breeder! They sell them in the BYC auction section.
